De La Cruz and Other Texas Congresspeople Urge New DCA Long-Haul Slot For SAT

Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz (TX-15) joined Sens. John Cornyn, Ted Cruz, and other Texas Members of Congress in a letter this week urging the Department of Transportation to award a new long-haul flight slot from Washington’s Reagan Airport to San Antonio International Airport. The airport, which serves De La Cruz’s constituents in Guadalupe County and other parts of TX-15, is barely outside of Reagan’s flight perimeter by approximately 30 miles. In a region like San Antonio with several military installations, direct service to an airport just minutes from the Pentagon makes sense, the Members of Congress wrote. “I hope Secretary Buttigieg looks at the facts,” De La Cruz said in a statement. “San Antonio serves a wide population of the traveling public with many going to the Washington Capitol Region on official military orders and for other government business. Awarding a slot to SAT makes sense and would have a positive impact on our region.” |
