Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz (TX-15) issued the following statement after voting Tuesday for a House resolution supporting the Israeli state and attending Israeli President Isaac Herzog’s address to Congress on Wednesday:

“The State of Israel is a strong American ally and a friend to South Texas. Contrary to the anti-semetic hatred spewed by some in Congress, Israel is not a racist state. It is a nation that has the right to defend itself against terrorists and nations who seek to inflict harm. I was proud to cast my vote in full support of Israel on Tuesday and I was inspired by President Herzog’s speech to Congress earlier today. He represents a nation celebrating not just its 75th year of independence, but 75 years of being a refuge for Jewish people from around the world.”
