Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz (TX-15) issued the following statement Friday regarding the ongoing House Speaker drama:

"I have sometimes compared Washington, D.C. to a telenovela, and I will admit that comparison may have been off. In many ways, it is a lot worse. America faces serious problems: record debt, a broken border, and genocidal terrorism abroad. The needless political theatrics of the last two weeks are only delaying our ability to respond to these challenges. I urge my colleagues to stop the nonsense and get back to work. The American people are fed up with the dysfunction and insider political games that do nothing to improve their lives — and so am I."
