Rep. De La Cruz on Parents Bill of Rights Act: “I will always stand for the rights of parents to make the best decisions for their families”

Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz (TX-15) issued the following statement after voting for the Parents Bill of Rights Act on Friday, March 24:

“The shutdown of schools across America and the online learning environment required more parental involvement than ever before. It often opened the eyes of our nation’s mothers and fathers. Many parents learned for the first time about the radical ideologies and agendas being imposed on our children,” De La Cruz said. “I was proud to vote for H.R. 5, the Parents Bill of Rights Act. This legislation guarantees the rights of parents to know the curriculum of their child’s school and have a voice in the process. I will always stand for the rights of parents to make the best decisions for their families.”

The Parents Bill of Rights Act includes the following five rights of parents:

  1. Parents have the right to know what their children are taught.

  2. Parents have the right to be heard.

  3. Parents have the right to see the school budget and spending.

  4. Parents have the right to protect their child’s privacy.

  5. Parents have the right to keep their children safe.

La congresista Mónica De La Cruz (TX-15) emitió la siguiente declaración después de votar a favor de la Ley de Declaración de Derechos de los Padres el viernes 24 de marzo:

"El cierre de las escuelas en todo Estados Unidos durante la pandemia y el entorno de aprendizaje en línea requiso más participación de los padres que nunca y les abrió los ojos a muchos. Por primera vez, muchos padres se enteraron de las ideologías y agendas radicales que se le imponen a nuestros hijos," dijo De La Cruz. "Me sentí orgullosa de votar a favor de la Declaración de Derechos de los Padres. Esta legislación garantiza que los padres tengan el derecho de conocer el plan de estudios de la escuela de sus hijos y a tener voz en el proceso. Siempre defenderé los derechos de los padres a tomar las mejores decisiones para sus familias."

La Ley de Declaración de Derechos de los Padres incluye:

  1. El derecho a saber lo que se enseña a sus hijos.

  2. El derecho a ser escuchados.

  3. El derecho a conocer el presupuesto y los gastos de la escuela.

  4. El derecho a proteger la intimidad de sus hijos.

  5. El derecho a la seguridad de sus hijos.
