WASHINGTON - Today, Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz (TX-15) joined the House Agriculture Committee hearing with U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins.
De La Cruz thanked Secretary Rollins for her work in securing water deliveries for Texas under the 1944 Water Treaty and deploying the $280 million in funding to South Texas farmers and ranchers. During the hearing, Secretary Rollins committed to working to include thetreaty in USMCA negotiations– a long-term solution to the Texas water crisis proposed by De La Cruz. Watch the clip here.
De La Cruz also discussed her legislative initiatives, including the New World Screwworm Preparedness Act, to ensure Texas agriculture is prepared as the threat of the parasite continues to move northward from Mexico. De La Cruz advocated for placing the facility to combat this threat at Moore Air Base in Hidalgo County. Watch the clip here.
