Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz (TX-15) released the video statement below in honor of Memorial Day on Monday, May 26.

"This Memorial Day, we remember the service and sacrifices of the brave men and women who have laid down their lives for our nation. 

 

Memorial Day is a reminder that our freedoms are not free. It is because of the heroes who answered the call to serve, that we are able to live in the greatest country in the world. 

 

Though we can never repay them for their service, we can honor their lives by ensuring every Veteran and their loved ones can access the benefits they need and earned.

 

Earlier this year, my legislation that expands housing access for disabled Veterans passed the House. I am committed to ensuring this legislation passes the Senate and is sent to President Trump’s desk for signature. 

 

I am proud to advocate for our servicemembers in Congress and my team always stands ready to assist our Veterans. If you or a loved one needs help, please do not hesitate to reach out. 

 

As Texans gather with family and friends, may we always remember the memories of our fallen not just today, but every day.
