De La Cruz Leads Texas Dreamer Work Authorization Act

WASHINGTON – Today, Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz (TX-15) introduced the Texas Dreamer Work Authorization Act to ensure uniform access to employment authorization documents (EADs) for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients nationwide.

"The Texas Dreamer Work Authorization Act provides uniformity and certainty that DACA recipients need to pursue their careers and contribute to our communities. By bringing common sense and stability to our immigration policy, my legislation will ensure the American dream remains a reality for those working hard to achieve it."  - Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz

Background:
The Texas Dreamer Work Authorization Act ensures the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has the statutory authority to issue Employment Authorization Documents (EADs) to Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients.

By giving DHS the authority to issue EADs, this will ensure uniformity and continued access to employment authorization for all eligible DACA recipients nationwide, bringing certainty for recipients.
