Unwavering Support for Border Patrol: Rep. Monica De La Cruz Introduces Legislation to Ensure that Border Patrol Agents are Paid During a Potential Government Shutdown

Legislation introduced by Rep. Monica De La Cruz (TX-15) on Tuesday would ensure Border Patrol Agents are paid in the event of a government shutdown.

Money to pay Border Patrol agents would come from “any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated,” the bill states.

“Border Patrol agents work hard each and every day to keep our border and nation safe,” De La Cruz said. “The thought of not paying these agents during a government shutdown is unconscionable. That is why I introduced this legislation to make sure they are taken of.”

Original co-sponsors of this bill are Reps. Jeff Van Drew, Nancy Mace, Stephanie Bice, August Pfluger, Tony Gonzales, Kelly Armstrong, Keith Self, James Moylan, Cory Mills, Lori Chavez-Deremer, Morgan Luttrell, Anthony D’Esposito, Gregory Steube, Henry Cuellar, Erin Houchin, Claudia Tenney, Chris Smith.
