De La Cruz Announces $31M for Jim Wells County Wastewater System

WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz (TX-15) joined officials from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to announce more than $31 million in available funding for Jim Wells County Fresh Water Supply District #1. Secured through the FY26 government funding legislation, the grant will fund critical infrastructure improvements in Ben Bolt. Specifically, the project will construct a new wastewater collection system connected to the City of Alice wastewater treatment plant and deliver sewer service to Ben Bolt for the first time.

"This $31 million investment will be truly transformational for the community of Ben Bolt. I am thrilled to help secure funding that delivers first-time sewer service to enhance sanitation, water quality, and public health standards. This is not just an infrastructure upgrade, it is a long-term investment for Texas families and the community for decades to come." - Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz

Background:

Alongside USDA, Congresswoman De La Cruz announced a grant of $29.3 million and a loan of $2.5 million for the Jim Wells County Fresh Water Supply District #1. The funding will create a new wastewater collection system, including new sewer lines, manholes, force mains, and three lift stations, to ensure safe collection and treatment of wastewater. The system will be the first sewer service in Ben Bolt.

Earlier this year, Congresswoman De La Cruz supported $445.9 million in funding for the USDA Rural Water and Waste Disposal Program in the FY26 Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act.
