Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz (TX-15) is deeply alarmed by a series of recent comments by President Joe Biden and Assistant HHS Secretary Rachel Levine in support of the federal government requiring states to offer sex change operations and dangerous puberty-blocking hormones to children.

Congresswoman De La Cruz issued the following statement:

“Within the past week, President Biden and his administration have suggested that the federal government may soon force states to offer sex change operations and dangerous puberty blockers to children. This is disgusting, and I will oppose this effort with every fiber of my being.

“Our most sacred obligation — as lawmakers, adults, and parents — is to protect innocent human life. Children are the most precious among us. A child should never be told the unscientific lie that he or she can pick their own gender or that they were born in the wrong body. Plainly stated, kids are not science projects.

“The Biden administration’s promotion of radical gender ideology is driven by politics, not science. Studies show that the vast majority of children with gender dysphoria grow up to identify by their biological sex. There is also evidence that the growing number of cases of gender dysphoria may be the result of social contagion. Even progressive countries across Western and Northern Europe are reversing course and discouraging sex-change surgeries and cross-sex hormones for minors.

“I will be co-sponsoring legislation to empower parents and protect the innocence of children. Adults should teach kids to love and accept themselves just as God made them — not try to confuse them.”
