Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz issued the following statement upon passage of H.R. 6363, the House continuing resolution:

"Today, I voted to prioritize common sense, national security, and the well-being of South Texans. With the ongoing threats at our southern border and the growing conflict in the Middle East, keeping our government operational is more crucial than ever. In our community, we have over 6,000 federal employees, many of whom are Border Patrol agents, who play a vital role in keeping America safe. A shutdown would severely disrupt their essential work and impact their families — and that is unacceptable to me.

We also have 30,000 veterans whose services could be compromised, along with 60,000 families relying on nutritional assistance benefits and 96,000 fellow South Texans with disabilities who count on our support.

While averting this shutdown was critical, we must focus on long-term solutions rather than temporary fixes. The American people deserve stability and certainty, especially in this economy. I am committed to addressing the underlying issues of our budget crisis to ensure our national security, protect seniors’ benefits, and fix our economy.”
